The real thing underneath — the living system that serious philosophers, physicians, mathematicians, and alchemists worked with for two thousand years — is something else entirely. It is precise. It is practical. It maps the forces moving through human consciousness with a coherence that the monkey, frankly, did not expect when it actually looked.

And once one sees see it clearly, the whole inner journey changes shape.

Three Systems. One Journey. One Alchemical Map.

One might ponder, sitting with the Golden Monkey framework long enough, how elegantly these three systems arrive in sequence. Each one the natural next question after the last. Each one a deeper room in the same house.

Alchemy is the process. The transformation of lead into gold — and the monkey wants to be precise here, because this is the most misunderstood metaphor in the history of human wisdom. The alchemists were mapping the refinement of human consciousness. The lead is the monkey mind — reactive, restless, spinning its plans and catastrophes with equal devotion, mistaking its own noise for reality. The fire is everything life sends that the monkey did not schedule and cannot negotiate with. And the gold is the stillness, the clarity, the genuine aliveness that emerges when the fire has done its work and the monkey finally, briefly, releases its grip on the wheel.

Every human life is an alchemical process. The framework names what is already underway.

Tarot is the map. The 78 cards chart the complete territory of the inner journey — 22 major stations from the Fool stepping off the cliff at card zero, all the way to the World complete in its integration, with 56 smaller stations charting the daily texture of the work. The Tarot tells us where on the map one stands in this particular moment.

“Astrology is the weather.”

This is the piece that changes everything else.

The map tells us the territory. The alchemical framework names the process. Astrology reads the living cosmic climate — the forces in the sky that shape the quality of the fire in the crucible, that indicate whether this season brings clarity and forward movement or the particular kind of dissolution that always precedes a genuine shift.

The monkey spent years wondering why some periods of life felt like wading through thick air — the strategies that worked last month arriving limp and ineffective, the effort landing nowhere, the monkey spinning harder and getting less traction. Astrology answered that question with unusual precision.

The field was working. The weather was simply Saturn.

The Part That Made the Monkey Sit Down

Here is what most people have yet to innerstand about astrology: it began as alchemy.

The ancient practitioners recognised seven visible planets and assigned each a corresponding metal. Sun to gold. Moon to silver. Mercury to quicksilver. Venus to copper. Mars to iron. Jupiter to tin. Saturn to lead.

A complete working model — a map of how cosmic forces operate on the material of the human soul. It held with extraordinary coherence for two thousand years before the newspaper column arrived to flatten it into twelve personality summaries and a daily prediction.

Saturn corresponds to lead — the heaviest, densest, most contracted of the seven metals. The force of limitation, of time, of the lessons that arrive as resistance. When Saturn is working on the prima materia of a life, the fire burns slow and steady, and the monkey’s current strategies are gently and persistently revealed as the lead they always were.

The Sun corresponds to gold. Pure awareness. The royal metal that holds its quality regardless of what surrounds it. The goal of the Great Work.

The alchemical Great Work — the transmutation of lead into gold — is Saturn becoming Sol. The most contracted state of consciousness opening into the most radiant.

Every natal chart maps this journey for a specific individual. Which forces are dominant. Which tensions are woven into the original design. Which periods of life carry the patient fire of Saturn and which bring the electrical clarity of Uranus, the expansive opening of Jupiter, the dissolving tide of Neptune.

This is the reason two people walk through the same outer circumstances and meet them so differently. The map is the same. The weather is personal. And the prima materia — the particular lead each soul arrives with — is uniquely its own.

That is the first thing the Golden Monkey wants to say before anything else — before the science, before the explanation, before the practical tools. When the field arrives like a freight train and everyone around you seems fine, when the sleepless nights and the racing heart and the waves of intensity feel disproportionate to what is happening in your life — you are whole. You are sensitive. And in a world that has largely forgotten how to listen to the Earth, that sensitivity is a frequency. A gift still learning its own name.

Here is what is actually going on.

The Antenna Principle

The Schumann Resonance is the Earth’s electromagnetic heartbeat — a set of frequencies generated in the cavity between the Earth’s surface and the ionosphere, resonating at approximately 7.83 Hz and its harmonics. Every living thing on this planet has evolved in the presence of this field. It is the original signal.

Your nervous system is a biological antenna. It is designed to detect, process, and respond to electromagnetic information — including the field the Earth constantly broadcasts. Most people feel this signal as a subtle background hum, barely noticed. Some people feel it like a radio turned all the way up.

Here is why.

When a nervous system is healthy, regulated, and open — when the body is relatively free of chronic stress, trauma, or tension — it processes the Schumann field with a kind of natural buffering. The signal comes in, the body responds, life continues. The wave passes and the surfer stays on the board.

And when a nervous system is already running in a heightened state — carrying unprocessed stress, old trauma held in the tissues, chronic anxiety, or the accumulated weight of simply living in the modern world — that buffering capacity tightens. The antenna winds up. A tight antenna receives signals at full amplitude. It amplifies everything.

So when the field spikes, when the Schumann Resonance elevates, when the Earth’s electromagnetic environment intensifies — a sensitised nervous system receives the full force of the wave. Without a board underneath it yet.

The insomnia. The agitation. The panic that arrives without an obvious cause. The sense that something is happening that one is still learning to name. These are signs of a highly attuned system doing exactly what it is designed to do — detecting the signal — and growing into the tools to surf it consciously.

What the Field Is Actually Doing

The Schumann Resonance has no agenda.
It is doing something — and you are feeling it.

When the field elevates, the electromagnetic environment that surrounds and permeates every living system on the planet intensifies. Research has connected Schumann frequency variations to changes in heart rate variability, melatonin production, cortisol rhythms, and neurological activity. The body responds to the field because the body has always responded to the field. This is physics and biology meeting in the place where most people are still waking up to.

For a sensitised nervous system, these field activations can feel like the body is being asked to process something it is still building capacity for. The field runs on its own timing. It simply arrives.

The alchemical framework the Golden Monkey works with is this: the field is the crucible. The monkey mind — restless, reactive, cycling, catastrophising — is the lead. And the gold is the stillness underneath all of it, the regulated, open nervous system that feels the field and rides it consciously.

The work is to build the capacity to feel the field fully. And surf it.

Here are two places to start.

Tool 1 — Conscious Breathing

The breath is the fastest access point to the nervous system that requires zero equipment, zero training, and zero special circumstances. When the field is elevated and the body is running hot, the breath shifts first — becoming shallow, rapid, high in the chest. Shallow breathing sends a signal of urgency to the nervous system, which responds by escalating. The loop runs.

Breaking the loop starts with the exhale.

The exhale activates the parasympathetic nervous system — the rest and digest state — more directly than the inhale. A longer exhale than inhale is the most reliable signal the body can send itself that it is safe.

A simple practice for field activation moments:

Inhale slowly through the nose for a count of four. Pause at the top for a count of one or two. Exhale slowly through the mouth for a count of six to eight. Pause at the bottom for a count of one or two. Repeat for five to ten cycles.

That is it. The ratio of longer exhale to inhale is the mechanism — the body registers it almost immediately.

When the mind is racing during the breath, allow it. Let the monkey spin. Keep the breath slow. The body receives the signal through the breath pattern regardless of what the mind is doing. The nervous system follows.

Tool 2 — EFT Tapping

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. It is sometimes called tapping, because that is what it involves — gently tapping with the fingertips on specific acupressure points on the body while acknowledging what is present and what is available instead.

It sounds almost too simple to be real. The research says otherwise.

EFT has been studied extensively for anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, and stress. The proposed mechanism is that tapping on acupressure points while holding a specific emotional state in mind sends a calming signal to the amygdala — the part of the brain responsible for the threat response, the fight-or-flight activation, the alarm system that a sensitised nervous system runs on high. Tapping interrupts the signal between the emotional state and the physiological stress response.

In practical terms: it works by combining the traditional meridian system of acupuncture with the modern innerstanding of how stress is stored in the body — and giving the nervous system a direct, embodied way to discharge the charge.

The basic EFT tapping sequence:

Start by identifying what is present right now. Name it honestly — “this intensity in my body,” “this agitation I am still learning to read,” “this wave moving through me.” Give it a rating from zero to ten for intensity.

Tap through the following points, repeating a simple statement about what is present and following it with an acceptance phrase:

The setup (tap on the side of the hand — the fleshy part below the little finger): “Even though I feel this intensity in my body right now, I deeply and completely accept myself.” Repeat three times.

Then tap through each point seven to ten times while saying a reminder phrase (”this intensity,” “this agitation,” “this wave”):

1. Top of the head — the crown

2. Beginning of the eyebrow — inner corner

3. Side of the eye — temple area

4. Under the eye — on the bone

5. Under the nose

6. Chin — between the lower lip and the jaw

7. Collarbone — just below where the collar bones meet

8. Under the arm — about a hand’s width below the armpit

After one full round, take a breath. Check the intensity again. Most people notice a shift within one to three rounds — a measurable reduction in the charge.

For field activation moments specifically, keep the reminder phrase simple: “this field activation,” “this wave in my nervous system,” “this energy moving through me.” The sensitivity stays. The nervous system processes the charge as it arrives, so it flows through rather than accumulates.

The Bigger Picture

The Schumann Resonance is on your side. The sensitivity is on your side. The monkey mind that spirals when the field elevates is lead on its way to becoming gold — it is the process, fully alive and doing exactly what it is designed to do.

The Golden Monkey picked up a Tarot deck one morning and recognised something in it. Not a fortune. Not a prophecy. A map.

Now, maps are interesting things when you ponder them. The word itself carries an old notion — to map something is to render the unknown into a form the mind can hold and navigate. Which means every map is an act of supreme arrogance. The cartographer says: I have been there, and I will tell you what it is. The Tarot does something altogether more interesting. It says: here is the territory. You are already in it. Figure shit out for yourself.

This is why the Golden Monkey and the Tarot have always been, whether they knew it or not, the same creature in different costumes.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE MAP

The Tarot did not begin as a spiritual instrument. It is believed to have arrived in northern Italy in the early 15th century — the Visconti-Sforza deck, commissioned by the Duke of Milan around 1440, painted by hand for the nobility, used for a game called tarocchi. Playing cards. Entertainment for the wealthy. Nothing mystical about it on the surface.

The surface, as it so often does, was lying.

By the late 18th century, French occultists had begun to suspect what the images in these cards were actually doing. Antoine Court de Gébelin declared the Major Arcana an encoded transmission from the mystery schools of ancient Egypt. He was almost certainly wrong about the history. He was not wrong about the instinct. What he had noticed — what the occultists who followed him noticed — was that the symbols in the Tarot were mapping something real. Not external events. Not the movements of planets and kings. The interior. The archetypal forces that shape a life from the inside.

By the early 20th century the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn had woven the Tarot into a complete esoteric system — Kabbalah, astrology, numerology, elemental philosophy, all of it speaking through the same 78 cards. And then in 1909 Arthur Edward Waite and artist Pamela Colman Smith produced the deck most of us recognise today. The Rider-Waite. The first deck to give fully illustrated scenes to every single card, including the Minor Arcana. The visual language Pamela Colman Smith embedded in those images is extraordinarily precise — every gesture, every colour, every figure in every landscape is doing symbolic work. The deck rewards close looking. It has been rewarding close looking for over a century.

This is the deck the Golden Monkey works with. Not out of tradition for its own sake. Because the map is good.

THE STRUCTURE OF THE MAP

78 cards. Two bodies of work in dialogue with each other.

The Major Arcana — 22 cards, numbered 0 through 21 — are the great archetypal forces. The large, impersonal energies that shape existence itself. Justice. Death. The Tower. The Star. These are not events that happen to you. They are conditions of the mysterium — patterns woven into the fabric of what it means to be alive and conscious and stumbling around in this whirled world ego soap opera comedy-tragedy we all find ourselves navigating together.

Taken together the 22 Major Arcana tell a single story. The Fool — card zero, the beginning before the beginning — walks into the world with everything he owns in a small bundle and absolutely no idea what comes next. Every card that follows is a force he encounters on the path. A different crucible. A different quality of fire. A different version of the ancient question: what does the monkey have to stop carrying before it becomes gold?

This is the Fool’s Journey. It is also, when we ponder it with an open mind and a pure heart, the only journey any of we all are actually on.

The Minor Arcana — 56 cards across four suits — are the daily texture of the work. Not the great archetypal fires but the specific flames. The choices, the moods, the small victories, the emotional weather of an ordinary Tuesday. Where the Major Arcana deals in destiny, the Minor Arcana deals in lived experience. Both are required. You cannot cook gold in a fire you never actually sit beside.

Each suit governs a domain of experience and carries the nature of one of the four classical elements.

Wands carry fire — creative energy, will, passion, the spark that initiates and the drive that sustains. The element that illuminates or consumes depending entirely on how consciously it is held.

Cups carry water — emotion, intuition, relationship, the interior life, all that which flows and floods and recedes and reflects. The element that nourishes or drowns depending on the same condition.

Swords carry air — mind, thought, communication, conflict, the double-edged nature of intellect. The same blade that cuts through confusion can cut the one who wields it carelessly. The element that clarifies or severs.

Pentacles carry earth — the physical world, the body, material resources, what is built and tended and grown and sustained across time. The element that grounds or buries.

The participant who sits with these four elements long enough begins to recognise their own signature in them. Which suits arrive most frequently. Which feel like home and which feel like foreign territory. This is not coincidence. The map is reflecting the territory.

FROM FOOL TO MAGICIAN — THE ALCHEMICAL SPINE

Here is the notion that gives this whole library its backbone.

The Fool is card zero. The Magician is card one. They sit right next to each other at the beginning of the Major Arcana and this is not an accident. The Fool arrives with pure potential and no tools — nothing but the bundle on his back and the willingness to step off the cliff. The Magician stands at his table with all four elemental tools laid out before him — the wand, the cup, the sword, the pentacle — one hand pointing to heaven, one to earth, the conscious channel between the above and the below held open and alive.

The journey from card zero to card one is the journey of the whole library.

We may ponder it as three ways of saying the same thing:

“The Fool becomes the Magician.”

“The Monkey Mind becomes the Alchemist.”

“The Lead becomes the Gold.”

Same transformation. Three different languages for the same interior process. And the mechanism — the thing that makes the journey possible — is learning to work consciously with the four elements and their symbols. The Fool does not know he is carrying fire, water, air, and earth. He has all four in the bundle on his back and he has no idea. The Magician knows exactly what each element is, what it asks, what it offers, and how to work with it. The Minor Arcana is the curriculum. The Major Arcana is the fire that does the cooking.

This is not a metaphor. This is a practical map of inner transformation dressed in the language of symbol and image because that is the language the interior has always spoken most fluently.

HOW TO READ THE SYMBOLS

The Tarot is a symbolic language. Learning it is less like memorising a vocabulary and more like learning to read a landscape — the more time you spend in it, the more you see, and what you see depends entirely on the quality of attention you bring.

A few foundational principles worth carrying as you begin.

Colour speaks. Gold and yellow carry solar consciousness and clarity. Blue speaks to the emotional depths and the water within. Red activates, energises, and warns in equal measure. Green speaks to the living intelligence of growth — the viriditas, the greening force that says this thing is still connected to its source. White holds the unmanifest. Grey is the space between, the place where things have not yet decided what they are.

Direction matters. Figures facing right move toward the future and the outer world. Figures facing left look toward the past and the inner world. Figures looking directly outward are meeting you — and asking you to look back.

Numbers carry weight. Aces are pure beginning — the seed before the seed knows what it is. Twos are duality and the moment of choice. Threes are the first synthesis, the point where two things become something new. Fours stabilise. Fives disrupt. Sixes harmonise. Sevens test. Eights demonstrate. Nines approach completion. Tens complete the cycle and quietly prepare for the next beginning.

Above and below in any image tell you something true. The sky speaks to what is possible and what is approaching. The ground speaks to what is real, what is built, what sustains.

The most useful question to ask of any card before asking what does this mean is simply — what am I actually looking at? The seeing comes before the knowing. The knowing comes before the gold.

I came to the Schumann Resonance seeking a better relationship with the question.

I’ve been sensitive my whole life — to atmospheres, to shifts in energy, to something moving underneath ordinary days that I couldn’t name and couldn’t ignore. For years I did what most people do: managed it, explained it away, or pushed through it. Some days that worked. Most days it didn’t. And the harder I pushed, the more the sensitivity pushed back.

The turning point wasn’t finding the spectrogram. It was what I did with it.

I’m barefoot, as usual.

That detail matters. It’s not an affectation. Somewhere along the way I stopped being able to tolerate anything between my feet and the earth — between my body and whatever this land is actually saying to me, when I am quiet enough to hear it.

I live on an organic banana farm. Occasionally you’ll find me running through the rows, decapitating old banana plants with a cane knife, half imagining I’m on some ancient battlefield, while of course chanting “Hare Krishna” with a big smile on my face — a strange mix of work and play.

The cosmos… I used to take it very seriously. Now I’m learning to see it as lila — divine play. I still care deeply, although I don’t grip it the same way. I’m learning not to take myself so seriously either. Something in me knows this physical life is fleeting… and at the same time, the soul moving through it is untouched and eternal.

But this isn’t really a story about the farm.

This is the story of how the Golden Monkey actually came to be. Not the tidy version. The real one — with the fire and the loss and the nine months and the child who never arrived, the void that became a community and the stillness that became a nova.

If that sounds like a lot, it is. Stay with me…

There was a woman.

She was an Oak Tree.

You’ll know the type if you’ve loved one — or been one. Fierce, strong, immovable on the surface. Roots sunk deep into painful beginnings, where strength becomes armor. She had weathered storms that would have felled most people. Magnificent… and defended. Carrying her past the way old trees carry lightning scars — healed over, but written into the grain.

And trust… didn’t come easily.

Not because she didn’t want it, but because something in her couldn’t quite rest in it. A reaching for closeness, followed by a pulling away. A quiet testing. A doubt that didn’t always match what was actually happening.

I felt it in the small moments. A glance. A question. A shift in the air when I stepped out of the room. Something simple, held against something unseen. I met it with openness. With reassurance. With transparency. But it wasn’t something that could be solved on the surface. It was deeper than that.

One night early on in the peace, when things were still fresh and exciting
We were dreaming out loud together. Frantic messages back and forth.

She was helping me give shape to something I’d been feeling into for a while. An offering rooted in alchemy. Built around fasting. Playful, but real. Something that needed a name.

She said it first…

“The Golden Monkey”

It landed immediately. We both felt it. It never became anything other than what it was from that first moment — an archetype. My playful nickname. Something that was mine, that she handed to me, that I didn’t fully understand yet.

That’s how it begins. Not on the farm alone. In the crucible of a relationship that was beautiful and painful in equal measure, with a woman who tried to find safety in a man, and couldn’t. Like an abandoned wolf pup who survived but never learned what safety and trust were, not because of any failure of will, but because of what came before. Before me. Before us.

We shared much of the early fasting journey together. Nine months of full moons and deep parasite cleansing and the kind of inner work that strips you right down. She was woven into the beginning of this thing.

The Prophecy

A young girl said something to her once, in that particular way that children sometimes speak, as though they’re reading from something you can’t see.

“The truth lies in the nest, you’ll see.
There’s a golden egg. It’ll hatch, for joy.”

The Oak Tree whispered this to me night we first met. I held it. Filed it somewhere in the body, the way you do with things that feel important before you know why.

The golden egg did come to exist. Seeded in the Oak — quite literally.

Already named by the Oak Tree herself, before the seed was even planted. A threshold child who would never meet us in the flesh. She had already made her decision before we even knew there was a decision to be made.

I was powerless. I want to say that plainly. I found out only days before it would occur, a thousand miles now between us. A painful, yet wise decision she made alone — against my will, only now can I fully appreciate and understand why. Now I can hold the grief of that and the understanding of it at the same time. It took a while to get there. What I thought was fate became destiny.

That soul touched both of our lives. Taught us something only the two of us can truly know from within. It was written in the stars — and I mean that not as a comfort but as a fact.

The golden egg hatched. Just not the way either of us expected.

The Nine Months

After our separation — two people who had become genuinely toxic to each other, through no great wickedness on either side, just the particular damage of an attachment that couldn’t hold its own weight — I made the decision to part. Little did I know at the time, the seed was already planted... That came later, when it was already too late.

What I had was a void.

I had this fasting practice — radical, full-moon, deep-cleansing, utterly serious. I had begun it before her, but we had shared it. And now I was alone with it, and the grief, and a monkey mind that would not be quiet, and a farm, and bare feet, and the specific howling emptiness that follows the end of something that really mattered.

“I started the fasting community to fill the void.”

I need to say that honestly. It wasn’t a fully formed offering. It was a man who needed to keep going and knew he couldn’t do it alone. I needed witnesses. I needed to be held by something, even if that something was the simple social contract of I said I would do this and other people are watching. That’s how Golden Monkey Life was born in its first form. Not in inspiration. In survival.

The Classroom Goes Quiet

The community was real. The fasting was real. The full moons were real. People came, and then it thinned. People moved on. The classroom went quiet.

I sat with the quiet. No audience. No curriculum. No one to hold accountable and no one to hold me. Just the farm and the soil and the bare feet and the monkey mind, finally, completely, magnificently alone with itself.

This is the part I couldn’t have planned. This is the part that was given, not achieved. The monkey mind became a nova. A slow dawn. A gradual brightening. A slow rising like the morning sun. A steady, inexplicable, irreversible expansion of golden light from within. Where there had been discipline, there was now devotion. Where there had been war on the body and white-knuckled fasting through grief, there was — and I don’t have a better word for this — evernew joy!

Sourceless. Inexhaustible. Present.

What I Know Now

I am a different animal than the one who started a fasting community to survive a heartbreak. I still fast. More gently now. The pendulum swung hard for a long time — I was waging war on my body while calling it purification. I needed the fire. But the fire was never the destination. The fire was the preparation.

Looking back, I can see what it was. My Saturn return. Not something I read about. Not something symbolic. Something that moved through my life with weight. With pressure. With consequence.

It stripped things back. Illusions. Roles. The ways I thought love was meant to be.
It asked me to stand in what was real… not what I wanted to be real.

And it didn’t ask gently.

The Golden Monkey is the alchemical symbol at the heart of all of this. The monkey mind — the pain and suffering, restlessness, seeking, a hunger for philosophical bananas — transmuted into golden awareness. Not by conquering it. Not by starving it into submission. By loving it into radiance.

One more thing… lightly, because it deserves its own transmission someday. The very week the Oak Tree and I parted — in the wreckage, barefoot, hollowed out — a book found its way into my hands. The Bhagavad Gita. I hadn’t sought it. It simply arrived, the way the right things arrive when you’ve finally been emptied enough to receive them.

I fell in love with Krishna.

That’s the only way I know how to say it. Not as metaphor. As the simple truth of what happened. And in that falling — in the devotional path of Bhakti that quietly opened beneath my feet — I found the name for what the nova actually was. Not discipline. Not achievement. Not even healing.

Love, as a way of being.

I didn’t make The Golden Monkey Life. It was grown through me — by everything that happened, including the things that broke me open wide enough for the light to get in.

This is the first transmission.
